| | "Born of Fire: The Pottery of Margaret Tafoya" will be opening at the Erie Art Museum on June 24, 2011 and will continue through January 29, 2012.
| Considered a master of her art, Margaret Tafoya was the last of the early 20th century Pueblo pottery matriarchs. Inspired by tales from her parents and grandparents, Tafoya was known for her ability to make unusually large storage and water jars in the tradition of her ancestors. The exhibit features over 75 pieces created by Tafoya, her mother, and her daughters and includes rare early works from Santa Clara Pueblo, a source of Tafoya's inspiration.
Friday, June 24 at 8pm and Saturday, June 25 at 2pm Members of the Tafoya family as well as Charles King, author of Born of Fire: The Life and Pottery of Margaret Tafoya, will be in attendance for a gallery talk and book signing. Four Winds Gallery will be present for opening weekend festivities, hope you can join us.
