Zuni artist, Lambert Homer Sr.(1917-1972), is one of the 20th centuries finest lapidary artists. His work is reminiscent of that found in prehistoric Southwestern sites, featuring very intricate mosaic inlay and channel inlay work. His inlays include white shell, turquoise and jet on spiny oyster shells, creating spirited geometric designs.
Some of Homer’s most famous works are belts with inlaid conchas. He is also said to be one of the first artists to incorporate the Apache Gaan Dancer into his inlay designs. In addition, he has many pieces of the Zuni Knife-wing and Rainbow Gods.
