Frank Dishta (1902 – 1954), born on the Zuni Pueblo, grew up immersed in a rich tradition of inlay jewelry. Surrounded by master artisans, he quickly honed his skills and developed a distinctive inlay style of his own. Known as “Dishta style,” his work features small, flush-set turquoise stones—typically circular or teardrop-shaped—set seamlessly into silver. This signature technique remains influential, and many artists continue to create jewelry inspired by his methods today.
Dishta’s artistry is celebrated in galleries and museums across the United States. Notably, his work is part of the permanent collection at the Heard Museum in Phoenix, Arizona.
