In addition to the White Hogan, other shops in the region had their own line of Southwest-inspired silver. The one under discussion here was started by Frank Patania Sr. Born in Sicily, he emigrated to America initially residing in New Mexico before finally settling in Arizona, where his work was so influenced by Native silverwork that he started The Thunderbird Shop, which produced objects in a similar style. Many of the pieces were commissioned with customers’ monograms or, as in this case, a name.
