This amazing raised, silver hollowware box is by the late Thomas Curtis, a talented Navajo silversmith. Growing up watching his blacksmith uncle at work, he gained an understanding of ironworking that would enable him to design and fabricate the stamps he used on his silver pieces. Balancing compositions in silver based on traditional Navajo motifs, he has created the dramatic results seen here. By taking the work of former smiths to a new level of achievement, Curtis established a standard of excellence that will continue to inspire future generations.
